Skydive in Silhouette
2 Miles

How far is 2 miles?
-Jim Wine-

2 miles… distance is said to be relative.  Walking, this takes most people about 45 minutes. Riding a bike, 15 minutes.  By car, less than 2 minutes on the highway. But for a few of us, this trip of 2 miles takes less than a minute with no car and no engine at all…  Just ask anyone that has stepped clear of a plane from over two miles high and experienced the true meaning of flight.

On any day with nice weather, over the skies of rural Virginia you will find hundreds of people at various drop zones enjoying the experience of skydiving.  From altitudes of up to 15,000 feet we leave the plane. Some with friends to fly together, others will fly alone, but many of these people are jumping for the first time and will exit with their instructor(s).

After a fall of about a minute, its time to stop skydiving and become a parachutist. Once under the brilliant colored  nylon canopy, we get the secondary thrill of quiet peaceful flight through the heavens.  Floating down gently to earth. For those who have stepped out into the clear air, it is in those two miles that we find life itself.
